The Faction Collective Re-Edit Logo


Ever wanted to be part of the Faction film crew? Now’s your chance.
The Collective Re-Edit Challenge is our way to scout for the best amateur editors out there. Free to enter, we’re asking you to create an alternate trailer for our team movie THE COLLECTIVE.
Winners will be judged by director Etienne Mérel, as well as an open fan vote, with awesome prizes to be won.


Step One: Email to request footage
Step Two: We send you a download link to real footage from the film within 1 business day. 
Step Three: Edit your own alternate trailer.
Step Four: Submit your trailer through a WeTransfer link via the form below.

The best 5 trailers will be published on the Faction website and social media channels for a fan vote, giving the best editors a huge platform.

To enter, your edit must...

  • Be between 1 and 3 minutes in length 
  • Only use license free/free of rights music
  • Adhere to YouTube’s music rights and policy guidelines
  • Only use footage provided by The Faction Collective
  • Have a format of 4k or 1080p
Additionally, this competition is only open to those aged 16 or over and who live in the EU, the UK, Norway,  Switzerland, the US, Japan, Australia, New Zealand or Canada. Good luck!


Edits must use music that is available to use worldwide on YouTube. You can check whether your song is free to use hereEdits using music that is not free to use will be disqualified. Some useful sites for finding rights-free music can be found here:



1. If I have my own music licensing, am I able to use this?

You can, so long as you have the rights to use the song on Youtube in your edit. 

2. I'm under 16, but really want to enter, can I submit an entry if I get my parents' permission?

We'd love to include everyone but unfortunately due to some legal restrictions you need to be 16 or over to enter.

3. Once I've submitted, can I share my edit on my own YouTube/social channels?

Not until the competition has ended or you have not been selected as a finalist. If you do become a finalist, you are encouraged to share Faction’s upload of your trailer to get your friends and family voting. However, please refrain from uploading directly from your social channels until close of competition.

4. What logos/assets can I include in my edit?

You may only use the film footage sent to you to download. You are also permitted to use Faction’s animation logo files. If you did not receive these in your download, please contact

Terms and Conditions

  1. This competition (the “Competition”) is open to anyone aged 16 or over to residents within the EU, Switzerland, Canada, the UK, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the US. The Competition is organised by The Faction Collective SA (the “Organiser”).
  2. You (the “Entrant”) may enter the Competition by submitting your Edit (the “Edit”) to us through our website (“Registering”).
  3. To qualify, the Entrant must submit an Edit that is between 1 and 3 minutes containing solely footage provided by the Organiser.
  4. There will be two winners: The Director’s choice award will be selected by THE COLLECTIVE’s Director Etienne Mérel. The Fan’s choice winner as well as the 5 runner ups will be selected by fans through a voting process on
  5. Winning Edits will be posted to YouTube, and therefore must adhere to YouTube’s music rights and policy guidelines. Please use the following link to check if your intended song choice is available for use on YouTube:
  6. The Prize (the “Prize”) will be given to the two top entrants, the Director’s Choice, and the Fan’s Choice – both winners will receive a pair of skis (Prodigy 2.0). The 5 runner ups will receive a selection of softgoods and skatedecks.
  7. All prizes include shipping to an address in Europe, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan or the US.
  8. The Prize cannot be transferred to anyone else and cannot be redeemed for cash value or an alternative product.
  9. Entries will be disqualified if they:
    • Use music that is not freely available for use Worldwide on YouTube.
    • Are shorter than 1 minute or longer than 3 minutes.
    • Are submitted by residents outside Europe, Switzerland, Canada, the UK, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the US.
    • The Competition opens on July 27, 2020 and closes on August 31, 2020.

  11. Winners will be announced in the week starting the 7th of September via Instagram. Winners must respond and accept the Prize within 24 hours from the date Winner is announced. Failing this, the Organisers may select another Winner from the Competition, and you will lose the Prize for failing to respond within the 24-hour allotment.
  12. Entrants agree to have their submissions presented on, provided they are selected as winners or runner ups.
  13. All Entrants confirm their acceptance of these terms and conditions by Registering for the Competition.
  14. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Switzerland.
